Calling all app developers! Paypal is holding their third PayPal X Developers Challenge and this time, the theme is apps for Google's Android platform. It's no secret that the Google Android OS app ecosystem has come leaps and bounds from where it was at launch into one of the powerhouse mobile OS' of today. After the success of the past 2 PayPal developers challenges, it was only logical for them to narrow down the scope to support the rapid expansion of the Android Ecosystem.

This time around, PayPal is looking for developers across the globe to build the most innovative Android mobile apps that leverage PayPal's existing technologies in the form of Mobile Payments Library as well as Mobile Express Checkout for mobile payments.

For your efforts, there will be a total of US$50,000 up for grabs! The Grand Prize winner will walk home with a cool US$25,000, Second Place will get US$15,000 and the Third Place winner will get US$10,000.

Before you start getting your Mountain Dew and Hot Pockets diet on, take notes of these important dates:

May 14th - Last day to submit your Android Mobile app idea
June 3rd -  Last day to make final changes to your app for judging
June 7th -  Your app must be on the Android Market
Week of June 27th - Winners will be announced
