MSI Array of Tablets and Notebook At Computex 2011


As you can see from coverage that we have featured from Computex Taipei 2011, there is no doubt that this year is the year of tablets. You can see them at almost every inch of the event show floor, from manufacturers to developers and heck, even giants like Microsoft – who themselves has just unveiled the new tablet-centric Windows 8 yesterday - are not spared the hottest form factor in the market at the moment.

Obviously, MSI is also part of the bandwagon as well and have showcased quite a number of WindPad tablets at Computex this week - including the one above that is draped with designs by world-renowned fashion designer Jeremy Scott - alongside couple of new additions to their G, F, C and X notebook series. Runs on Windows 7, the MSI WindPad 110W is powered by the AMD Brazos platform which features a dual-core processor and an AMD Radeon HD 6250 GPU. Comes together with 2GB of DDR2 memory and a 64GB solid state drive, other features include 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, G-Sensor gravity detector and an ALS light sensor. It also weights 850 grams and claimed to have more than six hours of battery time which is said to be the longest among Windows tablet so far.

As opposed to the WindPad 110W, the MSI WindPad 100A actually runs on Android and powered by a dual-core ARM Cortex processor. It also comes with 1GB of DDR2 memory as well as 32GB of storage space. It weights at 740 grams and offers even longer battery life at more than eight hours. While both might have different hardware built into it, they essentially come with the same 10-inch IPS wide-screen display with 1280x800 resolutions. Both 110W and 100A are also equipped with SD card reader, USB port and miniHDMI port.

At the same, MSI have also unveiled the new WindPad Enjoy tablet series which are available in 10-inch and 7-inch size. Equipped with 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor as well as 512MB RAM and 4GB of storage space, the WindPad Enjoy series actually runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system rather the newer tablet-optimized Honeycomb. Other features include 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and dual webcams.


MSI GTX780 Notebook

Meanwhile, at the MSI Notebooks section of their booth, one of the stars of the show is the GTX780 gaming laptop which runs on the second generation Intel Core i7 processors together with the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M GPU. Apparently, it is also the holder of more than 20,000 PCMark Vantage points, among the highest ever recorded for a notebook. There are few more others that are on display at the even as well which include CX480, CX670 and X460.
